About Our Physician Associate Students
BARDOC was successful in gaining recognition for their work in education and recently received accredited status as a GM training hub. We offer placements for students working towards careers as allied health professionals, which include Physician Associates, paramedic and nursing students. Students undertake clinical placements at BARDOC with a name clinical supervisor, and are given opportunities to develop their skills with direct appraisal.
We work with four different learning institutions: University of Bolton, University of Manchester, Edge Hill University and University of Central Lancashire.
Physician associate students get a great insight in to the services offered by BARDOC that is both in the general practice and out of hours care setting which provides them a good knowledge base and platform to develop their skills and competencies in the community as well as urgent and unscheduled care. Physician associate students are well supported and have a supervisor on each shift who can observe, assess and feedback so the trainees can reflect and improve their performance where needed.
In their time at BARDOC, PA students are also supported with their clinical exams and career development. They also have a dedicated tutorial each week with one of the GPs on topics that they find difficult to grasp or they want to revisit as well as a de-brief on any interesting cases they may have seen that week.
